"History and Music" Book Discussions


Pro Helvetia organizes two book discussions of ‘History and Music’ with editors Dr. Mohamed Afifi and Dr. Nahla Mattar. Contributors Dr. Ahmed Hennawi and writer Sayed Mahmoud will also be present at the discussion at the Cairo Conservatoire to talk about their articles “Hasaballah Troupe for Egyptian music” and “Ahmed Adawiya: between Elitism and the People's Choice

History and Music’ is a collection of articles written by specialists in both fields, tackling the social history of music in both Egypt and Switzerland. The book was published by Ein for Human and Social Studies and is considered the first of its kind in the Arab World.
