Up On The Roof - Open Stage Night at 9:00 PM.

Up on the Roof is an Arts Residency Cairo (ARC) event in association with Darb 1718. The bi monthly Open Stage Night is a creative platform for both established and emerging artists using either Arabic or English language.

Performances include live poetry, spoken word, stand-up comedy, narratives, music, script reading and dance. Each act will be a maximum of 7 minutes and at times a longer guest spot for an invited artist. This is a space to try out new material and take risks as well as present shaped work.

They will be bound by mutual attraction and feeling, but at the same time they will be fearful by their common feelings. This movie has been directed by the debutant director Mieli, and anticipates his homonymous novel, published few weeks later. “Ten Winters” was awarded with “David di Donatello” for best debutant director by the Italian Cinema Academy.

Come and See is a 1985 Soviet war movie and psychological horror drama about and occurring during the Nazi German occupation Soviet Russia.
The screenplay is by Ales Adamovich and Elem Klimov. The script had to wait eight years for approval; the film was finally produced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Soviet victory in World War II, and was a large box-office hit, with 28,900,000 admissions in the Soviet Union alone.

Angelo, father of two kids and in love with his wife Rossana, tries to fix his life after being ill; Alberto, engaged to Carla but no longer in love with her, explores his unhappiness and looks for words to show it out. When they are discharged, Angelo’s home will become the workshop in which to fix the engine, the place from where the writer will find the genuine curiosity of a shared observation.

Ayme Loren & Cairokee at Al-Azhar Park


Country rock American singer Ayme Loren and her band will perform with the Egyptian contemporary rock band Cairokee on Thursday July 7, 2011 at 8:00 PM at the Lake View Stage of Al Azhar Park.

The concert is free and part of a countrywide tour by Ayme that will take her and her band to Cairo, Alexandria and Damanhour from July 6 to 12, 2011.

Up on the Roof - Open Stage Night

The "Open Stage Night" takes place at the rooftop (weather-permitting!) of Darb 1718 on the first Thursday of every month.

The next event is on Thursday July 7, 2011 from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM.

Up on the Roof is an Arts Residency Cairo (ARC) event in association with Darb 1718. It is a platform for both amateurs and pros to showcase their talents in music, poetry, stand-up comedy, storytelling and dance in a supportive atmosphere. Performances last 7 minutes and can be in either Arabic or English.
