HENRY de MONFREID Photography Exhibition
Yesterday, Sunday March 8, 2009 saw the opening of the exhibition "En Mer Rouge, Henry de Monfreid photographe" at the French Cultural Centre in Mounira.
Henry de Monfreid (1879-1974) wrote 65 books about his travels; he left also an astonishing collection of photographs. The exhibition will host about 50 of those, digitalised in 2006 by the Musée National de la Marine in Paris. Click here to go to the very interesting website about the author.
Tonight, Monday March 9, in a special event at 6:30 PM, Guillame de Monfreid, grandchild of Henry, will read extracts from his travelogues and the historian Francois Bellet will hold a conference about the theme "Fascination de l'Orient".
The photographic exhibition will remain open until Friday, March 20.
