CAIRO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL DAY 3
"Ma Salama Jamil" is a Danish movie written and directed by a Palestinian-Danish man, about the struggle of a young man who refuses to be a pawn in a game he does not want to play . By the way, the boy is an Arab, and is name is Jamil, and he lives in Scandinavia. I haven't seen it but it is considered a very inspired and inspiring movie. Showing Thursday November 21 at Nile City 1 Cinema at 1:30 PM and at 5:30 PM in the Small Theatre of the Cairo Opera House. Click here to go to the movie's website and here to read a review
"Basra" is an Egyptian movie by Ahmed Rashwan about a photojournalist in the city of Basra shortly before the US-UK strike against Iraq. The leading role is played by Bassem Samra (Yacoubian Building), one of the best Egyptian actors around. For me, that's enough to qualify for today's second pick. Showing at the Good News cinema at 4:00 PM
