In these pages you will hopefully find interesting tips on how to take advantage of Cairo's many cultural opportunities, with particular attention to live events. Cairo Live Events Guide does not pretend to be exhaustive but will try to cover main events open to the public.

The Invention - A Children's Play

The Invention, a children's play by Brad Gromelski, directed by Amina Khalil and Leila Saad will be performed on Friday December 17, 2010 at En Vogue in Heliopolis at 2:00 PM and in the Oriental Hall of AUC Tahrir Campus at 7:00 PM, on Saturday, December 18 in the Alumni Lounge of AUC New Cairo Campus at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, December 21 at Diwan Bookstor in Heliopolis at 7:00 PM, and on Saturday January 8, 2011 at the Fun Yard on Cairo-Alex Road (km. 18) at 11:00 AM and at Darb 1718 at 3:00 PM.

Brad Gromelski's "The Invention" is a play that involves the efforts of the Narrator and three Fun Merchants to assemble a toy machine they have invented. Conflict arises when Kalibad, a toy spy, arrives and attempts to sabotage the invention. The main character in the show is The Audience, whose vocal and physical participation is necessary for the play to exist. The children of the audience shout warnings of Kalibad's arrival, carry and actually assemble the invention on stage, put together a cage and trap Kalibad inside of it, and co operate in other tasks. If the children are successful in their efforts, they receive a surprise souvenir of their adventure. (by Samuel French Inc.)
