Nothing makes much sense about parents and family to 14 year old Nina. In school, her teacher, Alberto - having his own problems with his son, Gigio – asks his class to write an essay on "Parents and Children - Instructions for Use". Unsure at first, Nina gets inspired and tells everything about her fractured family. Her mother Luisa, who is a charge nurse; her father Gianni who left the family to live in a boat; her troubled and racist little brother Ettore and her mysterious Grandmother who shows up suddenly after twenty years.

Directed by Roberto Rossellini. Starring Paolo Stoppa, Franco Interlenghi, Giovanna Ralli, Renzo Ricci, Oreste Lionello.
Historical, running time 106 min. - Italy 1961.
The Expedition of the Thousand in 1860 headed by Garibaldi, from the Quarto rock (May 5), till the Handshake of Teano (October 26) with King Victor Emanuel II.
On landing to Marsala, Garibaldi keeps on defeating the Bourbon troops. The final battle takes place along the river Volturno. After defeating the soldiers loyal to the king of Naples, Garibaldi meets King Victor Emanuel II and decides not to march on Rome and Venice, as his followers wish to; the unification of Italy is achieved under the aegis of Savoia's.
