In these pages you will hopefully find interesting tips on how to take advantage of Cairo's many cultural opportunities, with particular attention to live events. Cairo Live Events Guide does not pretend to be exhaustive but will try to cover main events open to the public.

UMF (Underground Music Federation)

Friday, October 14, 2011 starting at 4:00 PM 3:00 PM (updated Oct. 11), the Gezira Youth Club grounds in Zamalek will host some of the biggest names in Egypt's rock music for "Nice to Rock You" an event that will mark the official launch of UMF-LIVE.COM. The concert will feature SALALEM and CAIROKEE among others (click here for more details) and is an event I would never miss if I were in Cairo (sic!).

In the words of the authors ... "UMF-LIVE.COM is Egypt's first official and professional underground music website which offers community and platform that hosts the best underground musicians and artists to support and connect them with their fans around the world in a professional and interactive way". Well, if it manages to keep that mission it will be an overdue and welcomed development for the Egyptian music scene, a scene that deserves (CLEG has been saying that for years) a watchful eye as it has plenty of good musicians, creativity, and potential.

I had a look at the website and found that it is definitely well done and, though at its initial stages, provides already a good overview of many artists, in addition to the possibility of watching videos and hear songs. Do have a look, it is worth!

Good luck to UMF and to all artists participating in the project.
