In these pages you will hopefully find interesting tips on how to take advantage of Cairo's many cultural opportunities, with particular attention to live events. Cairo Live Events Guide does not pretend to be exhaustive but will try to cover main events open to the public.

Cinema at the Italian Cultural Institute

For their CineVideoClub - Cinema on Thursday-  programme, the Italian Cultural Institute in Zamalek presents: IL PRIMO UOMO, a film by Gianni Amelio with Jacques Gamblin, Catherine Sola, Maya Sansa, Denis Podalydès, Ulla Baugué. Drama, 98 min. - Italy, France, Algeria 2011. Italian with Italian subtitles.

Screen adaptation of Albert Camus' last novel, IL PRIMO UOMO traces back the events of an extraordinary character. The writer Jean Cormery goes back to his original homeland, Algeria, to plead for the idea of a country where Muslim and French can live along peacefully and in harmony. But in the 50s the Algerian issue is far from being resolved in a peaceful way. The man takes the chance to look for his mother and live again his youth in a difficult but sunny country.
