THE ART OF NOISE Workshop


From the honking of cars to the calls of vendors, the noises you hear on Cairo’s streets are endless, all of which can act as an inspiration to artists, particularly in the field of sound. Joke Lanz is one such artist, who has been captivated by Cairo and all its sounds. That’s why the Swiss artist will lead a workshop entitled The Art of Noise curated by Yara Mekawei. This workshop aims to trace, dissect and record all the different sounds of Cairo. There will be a concert on the last day of the workshop to showcase the outcome of the participants’ work.

Funded by Pro Helvetia Cairo, the workshop will take place from February 21 to 28, 2013 at 100copies Studio space at 22 Talaat Harb st., Downtown Cairo.
